Dennis Morris’s experience spans all phases of aerospace programs, including engineering and development, qualification testing, life extension (fatigue) analysis, certification, weight reduction/improvement, and aftermarket structural modifications and upgrades. He also completed an assignment with the Certification Division of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in Fort Worth, Texas.
Dennis has enjoyed a long career in the aerospace industry. He has taken lead roles on several programs including the recent Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) at Lockheed Martin, Fort Worth, where he participated in the development of the wing carry-through and arresting gear structure. His civilian aircraft experience includes stress analysis on the Gulfstream G-V and G-VI and Canadair CL-600 series business jets, the Rockwell Aero Commander 690B, and the Firecracker aircraft self-protection system on the Boeing 737.
Dennis has a broad understanding of composite materials. His work on the primary structure of the B-2 Spirit, YF-22 and F-22 Raptor, V-22 Osprey and F-35 Lighting, which were all advanced composite aircraft, has equipped him with a solid analytical background in composite aircraft and the practical aspects of composite application and component development. He has provided stress support for battle damage evaluation on the V-22 Osprey tilt-rotor for both metallic and composite components.
As an FAA Senior Structures Engineer employed with the Fort Worth ACO and designated structures engineering representative (DER), both company and consulting, Dennis is experienced with the FAA certification process and the workings of the Engineering and Manufacturing offices at the ACO. He has been involved with numerous STCs including doors, cowlings, custom interior modifications, and airframe repairs.
Dennis is experienced with FEM analysis programs such as Nastran/Patran, Abaqus and Catia CAD software. He has worked with most major aircraft companies including Vought aircraft (B-2 Bomber), Hughes aircraft (space satellites), Lockheed (Space Station, F-22 Raptor, P-7 anti-sub patrol aircraft), General Dynamics, and Gulfstream (G-V) and (G-VI).
